Walk 47 A:- Warrimoo to Glenbrook via Duck Pond Exit   At A Glance

Route Summary:- Part of this walk is off track or on faint track. It goes for about 1.3 km. along Warrimoo streets to the start of Florabella Pass, then follows this for about 2.7 km to a junction with Pippas Pass and steeply down on poor track to Glenbrook Creek; the walk crosses Glenbrook Creek on rock and follows the Creek downstream off track or on faint track for almost 3 km. to Duck Pond and re-crosses Glenbrook Creek on rocks downstream of Duck Pond and then goes up for almost 2 km. on tracks to Glenbrook streets with the final 0.5 km. along Glenbrook Streets.

Warrimoo to Glenbrook along Glenbrook Creek and Duck Pond Exit

 0.00/0.00      Warrimoo Station; Start of walk; cross footbridge over the highway and descend to road level

0.16/0.04       Walk west (uphill) on the service road beside the highway to The Boulevard

0.35/0.07       Turn left into The Boulevard

0.70/0.11       At the end of The Boulevard, turn right into Arthur St., then first left into Florabella St.; follow this to the end.

1.32/0.18      End of Florabella St., start of Florabella Pass

1.66/0.27       Track crosses small tributary creek

1.70/0.28       Track junction; turn hard right here and cross Florabella Creek on blue bunting on trees and red arrow on tree after crossing; track veers right and climbs for some distance, then descends more sharply; after track descent, note cavern overhang feature in sandstone cliff.

2.27/0.39       Track crosses Florabella Creek, then hard hard right after crossing; creek now on     right.

2.38/0.42       Minor track leaves main at right angles on left; ignore this, go straight on.

2.53/0.44       Timber bridge over minor tributary of Florabella Creek which is still on right.

2.60/0.45       Minor track uphill on left at right angles; ignore this; 10 m further, track junction; track on right signage:- ‘Glenbrook Creek 1 km; no exit’ ; ignore this; go straight on.

3.62/0.59       Y track junction; left hand track signage:-Plateau Parade’– ignore this; take track on right with sign on tree ‘Exit via Ross Crescent’

3.69/1.02       Minor creek crossing.

3.73/1.03       Track junction just before rock overhang; ignore track straight ahead but turn hard left and follow track steeply uphill.

3.78/1.04       Another track junction; again ignore track going straight ahead (blocked by sticks), but turn hard left and continue uphill.

3.98/1.09      Track junction; ‘Florabella Pass’ sign on tree and partly washed out ‘Warrimoo’ and arrow in white paint on rock face about 5 m further on; almost next to the tree with the ‘Florabella Pass’ sign, a poorly defined track goes steeply downhill towards Glenbrook Creek; take this

4.15/1.16       Track junction; take either- they re-join – track on right probably easier.

4.16/1.18       Track junction near Glenbrook Creek; either is Ok; track on right more gently down- take this.

4.18/1.19       On small sandy beach next to Glenbrook Creek

4.19/1.20       Cross Glenbrook Creek on rocks a few meters upstream of sandy beach and walk about      10 m over boulders beyond the Creek to find a poorly defined track going in both directions parallel to the Creek; turn left and follow Glenbrook Creek downstream, with Creek now on left.

This walk remains on the same side of Glenbrook Creek all the way to Duck Pond; there             is a recognizable track for about 85% of this distance; the track is generally 10-15 meters from the Creek , but descends just next to the water on several of the longer sandy         banks where creek bends to the right; track obscured by fallen timber or washed out in places. 

4.91/1.52       Tributary gully joins Creek on right

5.96/2.28       At sharp bend to right in Glenbrook Creek.

6.25/2.36       Tributary creek joins Creek on right.

6.88/2.54       Upstream end of Duck Pond, Pond on left

7.00/2.57       Downstream end of Duck Pond on wide sandy beach; cross Glenbrook Creek on       rock about 50 meters downstream of sandy beach but before Kanuka Brook

7.08/3.01      At crossing; turn left after crossing and walk upstream (Glenbrook Creek now on left) to just before a gully tributary of Glenbrook Creek.

7.18/3.06       Opposite sandy beach now on other side and just downstream of the gully entering on right; follow clearly defined track uphill beside the gully.

7.27/3.10       Three way track junction; take left hand track uphill

7.37/3.12       Track junction with formed track on right; veer left and continue uphill on wide, constructed track,

7.46/3.15       Track junction; leave wide track and follow lesser track on right steeply uphill           (this is a short cut on a wide loop made by the main track).

7.54/3.18       Wide track re-joins on left; continue uphill on wide track

7.59/3.19       Well defined unknown track joins on right; turn gently left and continue

8.20/3.28       Track splits in several directions; take right hand track gently downhill, then up

8.30/3.29       Track arrives at railway cutting on top of ridge; turn right and follow well defined track parallel to railway line

8.45/3.33       Track junction; leave track that is parallel to railway line and take track on right, gently downhill into a wide gully.

8.60/3.36       Track at gully crossing;a few meters after crossing there is a track junction; take either track-they re-join.

8.86/3.41       After crossing another more gentle gully track arrives at a clearing beside a house; turn right with house on left and follow the grassy clearing uphill to Station Street.

8.92/3.42      At Station Street; turn left and follow this to Cowdery Street, turn left into Cowdery Street to cross the railway line.

9.15/3.45       On bridge above railway line; turn right into Burfitt Parade and follow this to Glenbrook Station.

9.42/3.50      At Glenbrook Station. End of walk
